Palace Court Zari Kani Stole
Palace Court Zari Kani Stole
Product Description
Product Description
Deep red and jewel tone. A palace scene worked entirely into the weave, dense enough to read like a miniature painting.
The field of this stole unfolds as a continuous Mughal courtly narrative: figures seated in conversation beneath arched pavilions, courtiers standing in ornate doorways, palm trees and flowering branches rising between the architecture, all rendered in a rich, layered palette of red, teal, gold, olive, and lilac against alternating black and deep red grounds. The composition shifts as it moves along the stole, from architectural panels with latticed windows and domed rooftops to open floral fields worked in the same fine, multicoloured detail, giving the piece the density and narrative variation of a painted panel rather than a repeating textile pattern.
Metallic zari thread runs through the outlines and detailing throughout, catching the light along the arches, borders, and figures, lending the whole composition a jewelled, illuminated quality.
The border is treated as its own register, a striped panel of florals and latticework in matching tones closing the composition at both ends, finished with fine fringe.
